Vinyl Council of Australia Members Benefit from Industry Leading Expertise

Extrusion Consulting Inc.'s own Randy Brown traveled down under to Sydney and Melbourne to provide 2 weeks of exclusive training and onsite consulting support for members of the Vinyl Council of Australia. Extrusion Consulting prides itself on providing solutions to the most difficult of problems in the plastics manufacturing industry. Randy Brown did just this with his onsite visits and training on the complexities of vinyl extrusion and die design, a topic that even the most veteran engineers can find ways to benefit from. "It was enjoyable for me to be able to mentor fellow plastic professionals with technology training in extrusion, vinyl formulation, die design, and technology transfer from lab to production floor. The VCA members seemed to appreciate my simple explanations for the complex problems of extrusion. I can say that we found it to be interesting, for example, his insights into how PVC Fusion can be better measured against Temperature than time, was particularly useful content. It allows a new means of characterising optimal changes to PVC formulation and gives information that can be passed on to customers, who want to know how to set up their tooling to suit. Training Day - Whilst I recognise there were topics covered on the day that do not relate to our business, most of the topics and information that were presented provided a good and appropriate level of detail and were (in my view) entirely appropriate, given the range and cross section of attendees present from various PVC businesses. There were a few small gems in the modules and some thought-provoking items covered that will certainly prove useful back in our business and there was a healthy level of engagement by the attendees, with questions and comments that allowed for these additional matters (and experiences) to be shared with the group. Both Rob and I found the content of significant interest and the day was very well run and executed.
Site Visit - Without any hesitation having Randy in our plant on Wednesday provided a fabulous opportunity for our senior staff members to talk with Randy, share their experiences, be challenged with opportunities for improvement and learn some new tips and tricks that do relate to our processes. I can say with full confidence that the take outs from the day will help us be better at what we do and be more efficient in our processes, to the benefit of the business, our staff and our customers. In addition, Randy was a pleasure to host, and I’d do this all again in a heartbeat.
