Coperion and Lummus Novolen Technology Demonstrate New PP Pellet Extrusion Process
Coperion and Lummus Novolen Technology Demonstrate New PP Pellet Extrusion Process
Coperion along with Lummus Novolen Technology have demonstrated an innovative new process in the extrusion of very low melt viscosity polypropylene (PP) pellets which can be used in making the filter media in non-woven surgical masks. The combined forces of Coperion, which makes extrusion systems and other plastics processing equipment, and Lummus Novolen Technology, which licenses polypropylene technology and provides engineering support, ensured the success of this new process design.
This new extrusion process is based on using Coperion’s ZSK extruders with ZS-EG side devolatilization and a new screw design for optimum dispersion and degassing. It has proven to be a reliable process regardless of throughput rates or melt viscosities, allowing for the processing of a wide range of PP types. Tubi Opens Two Mobile Pipe Extrusion Plants in FL
Tubi Opens Two Mobile Pipe Extrusion Plants in FL
Tubi, an Australian pipe solutions manufacturer, announced recently that the company now has two mobile extrusion HDPE pressure pipe plants operational at a mobile manufacturing site in Bartow, Florida. The plants are capable of producing 500-foot pipe lengths at the site with the highest production rates and the most advanced quality control monitoring in the world. The Tubi plants in central Florida allow customers faster access to HDPE pipe, reducing costs for transportation and carbon emissions. In addition, the 500-foot lengths reduce the number of weld joints, increasing reliability while decreasing installation costs. This is the second site for Tubi, with a current plant already operational in Odessa, Texas and another planned for Tucson, Arizona in September 2020. To read more about the announcement, click here.
