Protect Extruded Tubing With New Coil Strapping System From Conair
Conair’s new coil strapping system prevents extruded tube damage and facilitates handling
Conair introduced a new coil strapping system for its ATC series tube coilers. The new strapping system automatically and securely straps coils up to 24 inches in diameter of small-diameter (0.040 to 0.5 inch) extruded tubing, preventing damage to the tube while also making it easier to handle and move. The PP and PET strapping is also FDA-compliant for medical tubing applications.
The strapping system, which connects to the ATC coiler control via secure Ethernet, is comprised of two pieces, a steel stand holding two strapping rolls and the automatic strapping head. Coils can be strapped with one, two or four straps per coil. To prevent damage to the finished tubing, the strapping head uses ultrasonic welds to attach the strap material to itself – these welds will not heat or distort the finished tubing. With two 12,700-foot rolls of PE or PET strapping material, the system can wrap up to 4,400 coils per roll with one strap. In addition, the manufacturing line never needs to be shutdown to load new strapping rolls thanks to the ATC coiler’s automatic in-line accumulator.
