Extrusion Technologies to Be Showcased at Plastec West
Various innovative extrusion technologies will be on display at Platec West. Firms such as Conair, Guill tool, and various others will be showcasing their newest manufacturing technologies at the co-located Plastec West and MD&M West events. Many of the extrusion technologies that will be in the spotlight are intended for medical applications. Conair, Davis standard, and Zumbach electronics will be teaming up to exhibit the extrusion of medical-grade, quarter-inch polycarbonate (PC) tubing. Among the technologies used for this demonstration will be Conair's new moisture minder, Davis- Standard's HPE horizontal extruder, and Zumbach's ultrasonic wall-thickness gauges. Learn more here.

Exolon Collaborates With Eastman to Extrude Sheets for Medical Packaging 
Exolon and Eastman recently announced a collaboration for the extrusion of solid thermoplastic sheet materials to be used for rigid medical packaging. The product of this partnership will be Exolon's Vivak Med solid thermoplastic sheets which will be based on Eastman's eastar 6763 co-polyester resins. The eastar 6763 co-polyester resin has become a standard in rigid medical packaging applications and has received a Platinum level Material Health Certificate from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. Rigid medical packaging regulations are stringent and Exolon looks to overcome this hurdle by using eastar resins which meet ISO 10993/USP Class VI biocompatibility requirements. With their Vivak Med thermoplastic sheet materials Exolon looks to gain traction in the medical sector and further expand their Vivak product portfolio. Learn more here.
